About the positions

6 x positions: Anaesthesia / Ultrasound / Clinical Education

Clinical Education

The Provisional Fellow clinical role provides the opportunity to broaden their experience delivering high quality anaesthetic care in a tertiary surgical referral centre for both adult and paediatric patients, from both urban and rural populations. The provisional fellow has the opportunity to learn (or re-enforce) novel skillsets (including regional anaesthesia, clinical ultrasound skills and advanced airway techniques) and their clinical focus is able to be tailored to suit their needs.

Ultrasound

The aim of this position is to develop specialised knowledge and skills in ultrasound use particularly as it relates to anaesthesia. This position involves a general clinical component and a component designed to develop knowledge and skills in ultrasound. The specific composition of the ultrasound component can be negotiated to suit the individual's requirements. This is expected to include developing knowledge and skills in transthoracic echo, regional anaesthesia, vascular access and other perioperative uses of ultrasound.

Anaesthesia

The Provisional Fellow has an opportunity to re-enforce or learn novel skillsets. Opportunity exists to tailor the year to suit individual needs, including but not limited to further exposure to Advanced Airway Management, Trauma Anaesthesia, Cardiac Anaesthesia or Obstetric Anaesthesia. The Fellow will transition to supervisory roles and gain first on-call experience in a supportive environment. Supervision and teaching of junior staff, including anaesthetic and other speciality trainees, resident staff and medical students is part of their daily responsibilities.

Competitive salary and benefits:

We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements.

  • Salary range: $5130.40 to $5931.50 p.f. (L4-L9)
  • 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
  • Professional development assistance - allowance, Vocational Training Subsidy (if applicable), PD leave, and exam leave.

Requirements:

  • Medical Degree + Registration with AHPRA.
  • Accepted into the recognised vocational college training program relevant to anaesthetics and successful completion of the Part 2 FANZCA exam.
  • Ultrasound also requires enrolment in a suitable ultrasound course.
