Parliamentary Service at Queensland Parliament House has a rare opportunity for a motivated and organised professional to join our team. Supporting a busy functions and events business, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality experiences within one of the state's most iconic and historically significant venues.

This fast-paced role offers exposure across event management, stakeholder relations, and member engagement.

  • Stakeholder Liaison: Acting as the first point of contact for enquiries from Members of Parliament, government stakeholders, and the public.
  • Event Coordination: Managing registrations and event systems to ensure the smooth execution of functions ranging from official ceremonies to community engagements.
  • Administrative Excellence: Maintaining rigorous administrative processes to support the broader team in a high-standard professional environment.

Key Objectives

  • Sell and Coordinate function venues for diverse events within the Parliamentary precinct.
  • Ensure all event logistics, compliance, and service requirements are delivered to a high standard.
  • Develop strong client relationships through effective consultation, negotiation, and communication.

Your Role

  • Plan and organise the delivery of function venues for a wide range of social and business events.
  • Coordinate pre-function logistics including room set‑ups, catering requirements, and health and safety obligations.
  • Negotiate with clients regarding service offerings, pricing, and event requirements.
  • Liaise with Catering Services, Property and Facilities Services, and other internal stakeholders to ensure venues are fully equipped and service-ready.
  • Monitor the delivery of functions to ensure timely, professional service outcomes.
  • Manage bookings using a Function Management System and maintain accurate event records.
  • Prepare event documentation and ensure function procedures are followed.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in coordinating or managing functions or events of varying size, style, and clientele.
  • Knowledge of menu planning and price quotations for food and beverage services.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Well-developed written communication skills.
  • Confidence using computer systems, including event or catering management software.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
