The Prevocational Medical Education Unit leads and manages all aspects of junior doctor education, accreditation, supervision, and support across the health service. It ensures PGY1 and PGY2 training meets AMC standards, oversees assessment and performance systems, develops and delivers education programs, supports supervisors, and drives quality improvement in medical education. The unit also provides strategic leadership, manages resources and staff, supports junior doctor wellbeing and career development, and maintains strong relationships with clinical teams, executives, universities, and accreditation bodies.

About your opportunity:

In this position you will….. 

  • Manage strategic planning activities and policy development take an active role in the decision making and direction of the Medical Education Unit (MEU) and junior doctor training across the district.
  • Support and lead the functions of the Prevocational Medical Education Committee (PMEC) and provide high level professional advice on matters relating to medical education and the Junior Doctor Training Program.
  • Identify and organise research activities that relate to the improvement of medical education and new initiatives for junior doctor training.
  • Collaborate and advise the Director of Clinical Training regarding the appropriate management of junior doctor issues and the development and monitoring of plans to address issues of performance and clinical competence.
