In the role of Surveyor you will assist in planning, designing, constructing and managing its road network. As a member of this team, you will carry out a variety of responsibilities, primarily in delivery of survey projects.
As a member of the survey team in the Downs South-West District you will carry out a variety of responsibilities, primarily in delivery of survey projects. In the role of Surveyor you will manage engineering survey projects to ensure services meet all objectives through the phases of project cycles of planning, designing, constructing and managing the road network.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• The focus of your role will be to manage engineering surveying projects through all phases of the project cycle to ensure services meet all objectives.
To do this you will:
• Work within relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements.
• Maintain and utilise current knowledge and engineering surveying standards.
• Ensure quality aspects of the projects are identified and addressed.
• Undertake specialised survey projects and provide technical expertise and consultancy service in geospatial applications to a diverse range of customers to ensure success, value for money and best practice are adopted.
• Plan, assign, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of team members as required.
• Manage and maintain effective liaison and communication with internal and external stakeholders on all matters relating to survey projects.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
• A minimum of a 3 year degree in surveying from a recognised tertiary institution, or a qualification that is acceptable for registration as a surveyor/surveying graduate with the Surveyors Board of Queensland (SBQ). Evidence of degree or SBQ acceptance must be supplied in writing by the applicant at the time of the interview.
• Valid Queensland ‘C' class driver's licence or equivalent.
• A reasonable amount of travel consistent with industry standards may be required throughout the State, travel expenses are payable.
• TMR has a Drug and Alcohol Policy which applies to all Employees, Workers and Visitors to TMR workplaces. This may include random, post incident and reasonable suspicion testing during employment to ensure a safe and healthy workplace.
Desirable requirements
• Registration as a surveyor or surveying graduate with the Surveyors Board of Queensland (SBQ).
• Previous experience in road construction.
• Experience using 12d Model and Trimble Business Centre software.
Requirements of the role
• Determine survey scope, develop suitable reference frameworks, and perform complex surveying and construction surveying activities.
• Apply a high and complex understanding of data and information acquisition and management and contribute to the discipline.
• Apply knowledge independently and guide others in applying engineering surveying principles and methodologies in locating, controlling, measuring, and auditing road construction projects.
• Use data and leverage technology to achieve greater efficiencies; challenge the status quo by asking questions to bridge information gaps and clearly define new opportunities.
• Demonstrates awareness of others by tailoring messages so they resonate with stakeholders of diverse interests and backgrounds. Initiates two-way collaborations by providing information and advice in a timely, proactive and non-technical manner, supporting the team to do the same. Achieves mutually beneficial outcomes by listening.
