The successful candidate will play an integral role in the following:

  • Provide case management, including safety planning, brief intervention and referral services to clients experiencing a range of vulnerabilities, and who have a broad range of engagement styles and life experiences.
  • Utilise a flexible and responsive trauma informed and culturally safe approach to your work with clients.
  • Conduct risk assessments to determine risk of suicide and make appropriate referrals where clients are considered high risk. 
  • Assist clients to draft routine correspondence concerning grants of aid and ensure appropriate documentation and record keeping for all social supports provided. 
  • Build and maintain referral networks with a range of stakeholders to ensure internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to evidenced-based service improvement strategies, policies, procedures and guidelines relating to the Client Assistance Service to incorporate a trauma informed practice and cultural safety.

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • You have experience providing client and/or case management services to vulnerable and/or distressed clients.
  • You have knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, legal processes and procedures and the social issues impacting vulnerable Queenslanders including people with disabilities and complex trauma.
  • You can communicate in a clear and succinct manner, can explain information using language that is appropriate for the audience and stay calm in difficult situations or when supporting clients with complex needs.
