We are recruiting for one permanent position working Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, and 2 temporary positions working Sunday, Monday and Wednesday OR Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

In this role you will work across service points in the State Reference Library, and the John Oxley Library, as well as via phone and online channels, providing guidance to clients accessing State Library collections and services.

You will also connect clients with our collections and resources through an extended enquiry service, the development and delivery of public programming, and creation of support materials, web content and blogs.

The Librarian, Information and Client Services role, within the Information Services branch is responsible for delivering  information services to visitors and clients onsite and online.

In this role you will be the friendly and knowledgeable face State Library clients turn to for guidance on accessing and using State Library's resources and services. You will also use your well-developed research skills to respond to extended research requests via the Ask a Librarian service, contribute to public programming and the development of online learning resources for a diverse audience. We are looking for a passionate client-focused librarian dedicated to providing access to information through our reference services, onsite and online.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A relevant degree and eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
  • Strong technical skills to assist a diverse client base in the use of a range of technology and eresources.
  • The ability to effectively search, navigate and assist clients in the use of State Library resources.
  • Experience delivering research and information services in a library environment.
  • The ability to design and deliver training programs, learning resources and other material to support access to resources and collections.
  • Proven capability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Previous experience with heritage collections is highly desirable.

State Library provides services to clients 7 days per week and this role will require evening, weekend and public holiday work.
