The Office of the Information Commissioner (OIC) is seeking an experienced Senior Finance Officer to deliver both strategic and operational finance services. This diverse role requires the capability and flexibility to manage multiple priorities and varying deadlines. This is a permanent part-time opportunity, 0.6 FTE per fortnight.

The OIC is an independent statutory body with powers under the Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld) (RTI Act) and Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) (IP Act) to promote and regulate access to government-held information and protect people's personal information held by the public sector.

We facilitate greater and easier public access to government-held information and assist agencies understand their obligations under the IP Act to safeguard the personal information that they hold. Our office reviews agency decisions about access to information, mediates privacy complaints, and monitors and reports on agency compliance to Parliament.

About the Role:
You will be responsible for operational financial management and providing strategic financial management advice. Duties include:
- Liaising with central agencies to ensure OIC meets all financial reporting requirements and standards.
- Provide strategic and operational financial management advice and services.
- Assist in preparing the OIC annual budget and develop complex financial reports, submissions, and correspondence on budgeting and financial management matters.
- Develop processes to support the sound management of OIC's budget ensuring alignment with the objectives of OIC, and compliance with strategic and operational plans.
- Lead the design, development, documentation, maintenance, and improvement of accounting, budgetary and associated financial systems, procedures and processes used for effective financial management.
