The Temp Principal Advisor (Communications and Stakeholder) is responsible for providing high‑level strategic and operational communication, media and stakeholder engagement support to the Roma Street and New Albion Station projects. The role focuses on delivering clear, coordinated and timely communication activities that support project milestones, manage issues and maintain stakeholder confidence.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Lead and coordinate communication and engagement activities for the Roma Street and New Albion Station projects, driving the development and delivery of effective strategies to inform and engage stakeholders and the community across all project phases.
• Develop and implement communication and engagement strategies and operational plans that reflect best practice and support project delivery outcomes, key milestones and stakeholder requirements.
• Provide specialist communication, media and engagement advice to project leadership teams and senior stakeholders to support informed decision‑making, issues management and risk mitigation.
• Oversee stakeholder engagement activities and maintain positive working relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including TMR, other government agencies, industry and the community.
• Prepare and coordinate high‑quality communication products, including media materials, ministerial and executive briefings, correspondence, presentations and digital content.
• Provide professional leadership through mentoring, guidance and coordination of staff and contractors, contributing to capability development, ethical decisionmaking and consistent delivery of communication and engagement outcomes.

Desirable qualifications and conditions:
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related discipline is highly regarded.
• Certification with the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2), or demonstrated application of IAP2 principles, is highly regarded.
• Demonstrated experience in strategic communication and/or community and project engagement, preferably within environments delivering major infrastructure or complex programs of work.

Requirements of the role:
• Stakeholder engagement experience: Demonstrated experience in coordinating stakeholder engagement and communication efforts within complex project environments, preferably in the transportation or infrastructure sector.
• Communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively plan, implement, and manage communication and engagement programs, as well as to provide strategic advice to senior management.
• Builds enduring relationships: Proven ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, fostering cooperation, coordination and enhanced communication channels to support project objectives.
• Makes insightful decisions: Excellent analytical skills to stay informed about project activities, identify trends and risks in communication issues, and develop proactive strategies for issues management and mitigation.
• Drives accountability and outcomes: Demonstrates accountability for the execution and quality of results through professionalism, persistence, and transparency
• Demonstrates sound governance: Ability to provide strategic advice to senior management on issues management, communication strategies, and stakeholder relationship enhancement, contributing to informed decision-making and project success.
