About us:

Central Queensland's Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service supports over 250,000 people across Rockhampton, Gladstone, Capricorn Coast and beyond. You're stepping into a region-wide network that connects inpatient care, community teams, and external providers to genuinely help people recover and rebuild.

About the role:

Forget what you've heard about Mental Health nursing. Here at CQ Health, we're forging a new frontier, going beyond what's expected to deliver conscientious, consumer lead care, with empathy, commitment and integrity. This is a role that keeps you on your toes in the best way. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for consumers, making sure everything you do is evidence-based, person-centred, and aligned with professional standards. You will deliver hands-on care, including for people with complex needs, while working closely with a multidisciplinary team to review and improve outcomes.

You will be right at the centre of communication, helping connect inpatient and community care, and collaborating with colleagues, consumers, and external providers to ensure seamless, high-quality support. You will also step into leadership by coordinating shifts, mentoring staff and students, and contributing to training, development, and a positive team culture.

You will stay up to date with best practice, help minimise risks, support service improvements, and use modern systems and technology to deliver safe and effective care. At the same time, you will keep growing your own skills and playing a part in shaping how the service evolves.

A major highlight is the upcoming brand-new Adult Inpatient Unit. This purpose-built, modern space will make care more therapeutic, efficient, and rewarding to deliver and you will have the rare opportunity to be part of shaping how it all comes together.

Sounds like the perfect opportunity for a change, right? We think so too. Apply now to be a part of this new chapter of Mental Health for CQ.
