The focus of Corporate Enterprise Solutions is to provide solutions and services that support Queensland Health’s Enterprise Corporate Applications and supporting payroll transactional processes. This application suite includes the largest integrated rostering and SAP payroll solution in the public sector and the SAP S/4HANA finance, business and logistics solution and management environment (S/4HANA solution).

The purpose of this position is to undertake design, development, implementation and maintenance of complex SAP system enhancements and modifications to cost effectively meet business requirements.
The Principal Developer (SAP) ensures that Queensland Health's integrated SAP solution is properly designed, configured, developed, documented, implemented, maintained and reviewed, in order to provide ongoing best practice and quality service to clients.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Lead senior developers and developers in designing, developing, implementing and maintaining system enhancements and modifications in the delivery of support to for Queensland Health's SAP HR Payroll integrated Solution, analyse business requirements and system specifications, and provide specialised expertise to staff and management to ensure specifications are aligned to business requirements.
  • Analyse and solve complex system problems to provide innovative solutions to business requirements in the delivery of support to Queensland Health and completion of project work in required timeframes.
  • Apply skills in the application of ABAP or Fiori programming, SAP workbench development and integrated HR and Rostering solutions.
  • Complete system design, specification, development, unit testing and maintenance and associated documentation of the applications and systems managed by Corporate Enterprise Solutions in strict compliance with Corporate Enterprise Solutions development standards.
  • Provide high-level advice on the development of information management best practice and application to Queensland Health HR Payroll Solutions.

Role fit:

The ideal candidate for the Principal Developer position brings extensive experience in SAP-focused business application development, with the ability to apply modern development technologies in a complex IT environment. You'll have proven capability in ABAP or Fiori programming, SAP Workbench development, and integrated HR and rostering solutions. Success in this role also relies on deep full‑stack SAP Fiori expertise — spanning HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, UI5, ABAP, REST, and OData — along with hands‑on experience building and supporting employee and manager self‑service applications that prioritise UX, accessibility, data privacy, and security. Familiarity with key development tools such as SAP Web IDE, browser debuggers, and Git rounds out the technical profile needed to excel.
