We are seeking a hands-on, reliable and motivated Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities to help maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment for our staff and students.

This is a fixed-term temporary position of approximately 10 hours per fortnight, with flexibility in days and times. Additional hours may be available during busier periods.

In this role, you will support the upkeep of school grounds and facilities, helping ensure a high-quality environment that enhances learning and day-to-day school life.

A strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, organised workspace are essential.

This is a progressional position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of both classification ranges.

Who We Are

Established in 1897, Kogan State School is a small, friendly, rural school located in the Darling Downs South-West Region approximately 30mins from Chinchilla and 40mins from Dalby.

Kogan State School is part of Darling Downs South West Region and provides a co-educational, multi-age setting for students in years Kindy to Year Six.

We offer curriculum programs in line with the priorities of the Department of Education and the Australian Curriculum, with a strong focus on literacy and numeracy.

A current Blue Card is required for this position. You will also be supported to complete any necessary online training.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain equipment including ride-on, push mower, whipper snipper, leaf blower and rotary hoe.
  • Maintain grounds, gardens oval plus weed control and fertilising.
  • Cleaning of gutters and drains
  • Communicating to the principal and business manager and ordering of supplies.
  • Liaise with various internal and external personnel including tradespersons.
