About Your Role
As the Midwifery Director - Professional Practice, you will provide strategic, operational and professional leadership across Metro South Health.
In this role you will:
- Lead midwifery professional practice, governance and strategic initiatives
- Drive innovative, evidence-based models of care across the service
- Provide expert advice on complex clinical, operational and policy matters
- Oversee performance, workforce planning and service delivery outcomes
- Lead system-wide quality improvement, research and innovation activities
About You
You are an experienced and strategic midwifery leader with the ability to influence at an executive level and drive meaningful change across complex healthcare environments.
You will demonstrate:
- Advanced expertise in midwifery practice, governance and service delivery
- Strong strategic thinking and ability to lead large-scale initiatives
- High-level leadership, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proven experience in workforce planning and capability development
- Expertise in clinical governance, quality improvement and safety frameworks
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data

Metro South Health (MSH) Executive Director Nursing and Midwifery (EDNM) Division
This Division provides overarching governance, leadership, strategic support and guidance for the Nursing and Midwifery professions across the health service. The EDNM Division is responsible for creating and delivering the MSH Nursing and Midwifery Strategy and associated Workforce, Education and Research priorities in alignment with the MSH Strategic Plan. The EDNM Division sets the governance and structure that enables the MSH Nursing and Midwifery Professional Stream to function in alignment with MSH values, meet practice standards, comply with legislative requirements, and deliver on quality indicators. Importantly, the Division also responds to current and emerging issues and priorities within MSH, and priorities of statewide Nursing and Midwifery professional bodies (e.g., Office of the Chief Nursing Office QLD, and Office of the Chief Midwife Officer QLD) including government election commitments applicable to the nursing and midwifery professions.
