About us:

The Specialist Outpatients Department (SOPD) at Rockhampton Hospital is a busy, vibrant hub of care that spans three levels and brings together a wide range of specialties. From Cardiology and Paediatrics to Orthopaedics, Dermatology, and more, no two days are ever the same.

Alongside our core services, we host a variety of visiting and specialist clinics, including pacemaker, respiratory, and adult congenital heart outreach services, as well as telehealth clinics that help connect patients to care wherever they are. It's a dynamic environment where innovation and accessibility go hand in hand.

We work closely with departments across the hospital (Renal, Cancer Care, and Allied Health) as well as community and government services. We also collaborate with facilities across Central Queensland and the state to make sure patients can access the right care, as close to home as possible.

About the role:

  • As a Registered Nurse in the Specialist Outpatients Department, you'll deliver high-quality, evidence-based care while working alongside a supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • In this role, you will take pride in being accountable for your own practice, consistently working to professional standards and supporting the safe supervision of other healthcare team members. You will follow established guidelines and protocols while also bringing your own clinical judgement and expertise to the care you provide.
  • You will be part of a culture that values growth and learning, contributing to your own professional development as well as supporting others to build their skills and confidence.
  • You will also have opportunities to be involved in quality improvement and local research activities, helping to shape and enhance the care delivered within the service.

About you:

  • Hold current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA and maintain your annual practising certificate.
  • Bring experience in creating a safe, high-quality care environment, with a strong focus on safe work practices, reviewing outcomes, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Have a sharp eye for improvement and are genuinely committed to continuously enhancing the care you provide.
  • Combine strong clinical knowledge with practical problem-solving skills, allowing you to respond confidently in a busy, patient-focused environment.
  • You understand the importance of working within legislation, standards, policies, and procedures, and apply them effectively in your everyday practice.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $127,861 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $44.06 - $56.51 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
