About the role
Permanent full‑time opportunity to deliver advanced, evidence‑based Social Work services as part of a multidisciplinary team in the Caboolture Adult and Paediatric Emergency Departments. The role focuses on supporting patients, families and carers affected by acute psychosocial trauma or multifaceted psychosocial challenges to optimise outcomes and maximise benefit from health care services. The position also contributes specialist Social Work support within the Outpatient Oncology Service and provides operational and clinical leadership to support effective, high‑quality Social Work service delivery within the Emergency Department.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Deliver advanced level evidence based clinical services, including counselling, in accordance with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Code of Ethics and AASW Professional Practice Standards by assessing complex psychosocial needs of clients impacted by traumatic events such as domestic and family violence and sexual assault; identifying clinical risk and providing multiple clinical interventions to maximise psychosocial outcomes for clients.
- Utilise current evidence and best practice knowledge to deliver clinical services to clients affected by trauma and/or sudden illness. Demonstrate a strong ability to work with a diverse range of issues including major trauma, domestic and family violence, elder abuse, child protection, frailty, homelessness and death.
- Use and model authoritative counsel, advanced-level problem solving and critical thinking to resolve complex problems and facilitate independent clinical reasoning and professional judgement within social work services across Caboolture, Kilcoy & Woodford Directorate and work collaboratively with stakeholders internally and externally to support patient needs.
