About the School
Helensvale State High School is a large Independent Public School on the northern Gold Coast, serving over 1800 students in Years 7 -12. We deliver strong outcomes and diverse pathways across academic, sporting and creative fields. The school maintains extensive grounds and facilities that require ongoing care to ensure a safe, functional and well-presented environment to support student learning, safety and pride in the school.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain school grounds, including mowing, watering, weeding, and garden care
- Operate and maintain equipment (e.g. mowers, brush cutters, tractors) in line with WHS guidelines
- Safely handle and apply chemicals such as fertilisers and insecticides
- Perform minor repairs, preventative maintenance, and routine inspections
- Ensure buildings, infrastructure, and equipment are safe and operational
- Monitor and report maintenance issues and hazards in accordance with WHS requirements
- Coordinate and supervise contractors, ensuring compliance with site induction and safety processes
- Assist with the setup and pack-down of school events and activities
About You
- Experience in groundskeeping, gardening, or general maintenance
- Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and manage time effectively
- Strong organisational skills, including maintaining equipment servicing schedules
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff
- Understanding of confidentiality and ability to maintain professional boundaries

Progressional roles show a salary range spanning two classifications. Appointment will be made at the level appropriate to skill and fulfilment of required criteria.
