What your day could look like
As a Clinical Nurse Consultant – Patient Safety, you'll play a vital role in supporting safer care across Darling Downs Health. From strengthening clinical governance to partnering with teams at the point of care, your work helps protect patients, support staff, and improve outcomes across a diverse regional health service.
Every day, you'll contribute by:
- Leading and shaping patient safety initiatives that reduce risk and improve care quality
- Partnering with clinical teams to learn from incidents and turn insights into safer practice
- Guiding reviews and improvement activities that embed a strong safety culture
- Using data, curiosity and collaboration to influence sustainable, service‑wide change
Let's talk about you!
You're a calm, credible nurse leader who is driven by making care safer and better for everyone. You balance clinical insight with compassion and integrity, and you know how to influence practice through relationships rather than hierarchy. You take pride in helping teams learn, improve and feel supported, especially when navigating complex or sensitive situations. You're not just here to meet standards – you're here to build trust, strengthen systems, and make a lasting difference for patients and staff.
Here's what will help you thrive in this role:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with appropriate experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of patient safety, clinical governance or quality improvement
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across disciplines
- A values‑led mindset aligned to compassion, dignity and courage in care
You'll stand out from the crowd if you bring experience in regional health settings and/or postgraduate study in quality, safety or leadership.
Above all, we're looking for someone committed to safer care, continuous learning and positive impact – lived through integrity, innovation and compassion every day.
In this role, your leadership helps turn learning into safer care for our communities.
