The purpose of the Manager (Business) is to provide strategic leadership and assurance over the business management functions for the Rail Division. You will lead innovative and efficient business management processes, systems and reporting for the Rail Division to support delivery, accountability and service excellence. You will strengthen divisional business functions by delivering fit-forpurpose processes, systems and reporting enabling confidence in operational matters and decision-making.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of priority divisional business activities, ensuring timely, high quality advice, analysis and outcomes for the ODDG Rail and Executive Leadership Team.
• Provide authoritative, high level advice to the Director (Business Management), Deputy Director General (Rail) and Executive Leadership Team on business management, governance, performance, risk and operational improvement matters to support effective decision making.
• Manage the development, implementation and reporting of the Rail Division business plan, performance measures and executive reporting, ensuring alignment with divisional priorities, whole of government requirements and continuous improvement objectives.
• Lead and manage divisional initiatives to improve, automate and modernise business systems, reporting tools and processes across functions such as procurement, human resources, finance and correspondence, enhancing efficiency, transparency and service delivery.
• Provide leadership in change management, fostering collaboration across the Division and with internal and external stakeholders to embed sustainable improvements, support workforce capability and promote consistent, customer focused business practices.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions:
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
Requirements of the role:
• Demonstrated experience leading and coordinating complex business management activities providing high quality, timely strategic advice, analysis, briefs and recommendations to translate strategic priorities into measurable outcomes aligned to divisional and whole of government requirements and to support informed decision making and organisational outcomes.
• Demonstrated capability in leveraging technology and data analytics to enhance business functions, improve processes, and deliver strategic-level reporting and assurance.
• Strong capability to lead and oversee continuous improvement initiatives, including reviewing, auditing and improving business processes, systems and reporting tools to deliver benefits, manage risk and drive sustainable innovative improvements across functions such as procurement, human resources, finance and communications.
• Highly developed interpersonal, communication and influencing skills, with demonstrated experience leading change, building and sustaining effective relationships across diverse internal and external stakeholder groups, fostering collaboration and accountability, and promoting a customer focused and inclusive organisational culture.
