The role
In the role of Senior Town Planner, you will provide high level statutory, land-use and town planning advice in relation to transport planning undertaken by the department including the provision of specialist advice in respect to the application of the Planning Act (2016) and Transport Infrastructure Act (1994) and other statutory instruments.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
* Lead and supervise statutory land-use and transport planning tasks, including development assessment and compliance.
* Provide expert advice on the Planning Act 2016, Transport Infrastructure Act 1994, and other statutory instruments.
* Review and respond to state and local government planning documents on behalf of the District.
* Develop and maintain effective communication with internal staff, government agencies, and stakeholders.
* Represent the department on working groups, steering committees, and Whole of Government meetings.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions
* A Bachelor of Planning, Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning, or Bachelor of Urban and Environmental Planning or equivalent as assessed by the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA).
* A current Class ‘C' Drivers Licence
* Must be eligible to work in Australia.
* Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check and serious disciplinary action declaration will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.

Desirable qualifications and conditions
* Comprehensive town planning experience, particularly in transport planning and promoting sustainable development outcomes.
* Experience with development assessment processes under the Planning Act 2016, specifically concerning transport-related matters.
* Proficiency in using systems such as eDAM, PARC, and Imaps.
