The role
The incumbent will be expected to be proficient across all aspects of general Urology. The Urology department has a high workload and performs over 600 operations and 500 outpatient procedures every year. The department is well equipped for all open and laparoscopic procedures. In addition to this position, the department has 1 Staff Consultant, 2 VMOs, 1 SET Urology Trainee, 5 Principal House Officer and 3 junior doctors.
The successful applicant may also be considered for involvement in Clinical Director responsibilities within the Urology Service, contributing to the strategic leadership, clinical governance, and ongoing development of the department.
Townsville University Hospital (TUH) is a 600 plus bed hospital. The hospital has an intensive care unit, radiology department with interventional capability, PET scanner, radiation oncology and the full range of Surgical and Medical specialty groups.
TUH has recently embarked on a partnership with the Mater Hospital Pimlico regarding Robotic Assisted Surgeries and is currently encouraging use of this facility for both public and private patients. TUH will also be the 2nd kidney Transplant site for Queensland, with the aim to be operational in the next 12 months. In this regard, the successful applicant will be required to be accredited for both robotic assisted surgeries and potentially kidney transplant if so interested.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a permanent full-time role.

We offer attractive remuneration packages and generous leave entitlements including:
- Salary range: $8303.90 - $10528.40 p.f. (L18-L27)
- 5 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading
- Allowances: Locality, Attraction and Retention, Motor Vehicle, Communication, Regional and Rural Incentative, Professional Development + leave
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
- Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available
Requirements:
- Qualified as a medical practitioner with specialist qualifications and registration, or eligible for registration, as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia in the appropriate discipline.
- Candidates who will be obtaining fellowship in the near future are encouraged to apply. Appointment will be at a lower classification level until minimum requirements for the Staff Specialist classification are obtained.
- Participate in on-call.
