The Queensland Family & Child Commission is seeking two experienced Senior Regulatory Officers to join our Monitoring & Investigations and Triage teams.
Our work empowers institutions and sector leaders to create safer environments for children, amplifies the voices of children and families in decision-making, and ensures transparency and accountability through risk-based regulation, strong governance, and continuous improvement.
In these roles, you will deliver high-quality regulatory activities and provide well-informed recommendations supported by data analysis, evidence-based insights, and accurate interpretation of relevant legislation.
You will be responsible for identifying and managing risk through sound, risk-based decision-making. This includes exercising appropriate regulatory powers, gathering and assessing evidence, and escalating issues in accordance with legislative.

The Child Safe Organisations division leads the implementation and enforcement of the Child Safe Standards and the Reportable Conduct Scheme in Queensland. We promote child safety and wellbeing by delivering evidence-based regulatory practices, supporting organisations to meet their safeguarding obligations, and strengthening system performance through data, collaboration, and culturally responsive design. Our work empowers institutions and sector leaders to create safer environments for children, amplifies the voices of children and families in decision-making, and ensures transparency and accountability through risk-based regulation, strong governance, and continuous improvement.
While both these roles are similar and support core regulatory functions, they differ in focus across triage, monitoring, and investigative activities. In these similar roles you will have the following responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Maintain effective time management practices to ensure members of the public and entities can receive timely and helpful information, including liaising with internal and external stakeholders from other departments and agencies, to allocate or re-allocate enquiries, where appropriate.
- Participate in group decision-making and supervision processes to critically analyse evidence and risk, manage case-loads, escalate issues and strengthen child and cultural safety-centred regulatory practice.
- Provide high level verbal and written advice, guidance and correspondence for internal and external stakeholders regarding compliance with the CSO Act.
- Apply policies, procedures and guidelines at a high level, maintain accurate and timely records of regulatory operations and prepare investigation and issue briefs for management and senior leadership.
- Update the CSO case management system, ensuring accurate, timely, proportionate, and risk-based responses to safeguarding concerns are supported by the effective and accountable administration of the regulatory scheme.
- Represent the Commission at forums, meetings and community of practice working groups and build relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders in order to facilitate the provision of appropriate advice and effective implementation of the Child Safe Standards and the Reportable Conduct schemes.
- Apply contemporary regulatory best practice and drive continuous improvement by contributing to quality assurance initiatives across people, processes and technology within the CSO team.
- Comply with the Commission's information security and records management policies and procedures to ensure information holding systems are kept confidential and utilised accurately and reliably.
