About the role
The purpose of this role is to walk alongside women and their families expecting an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander baby through the Caboolture Ngarrama Program. This role provides contemporary, evidence-based women, baby and family centred care that is grounded in cultural safety and responsiveness, with a focus on improving maternal and infant health outcomes throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Practice in accordance with code of ethics, professional standards and legislation affecting midwifery practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within scope of position.
- Uphold Principle 3 of the NMBA Code of Conduct for Midwives — Cultural Practice and Respectful Relationships — centring cultural safety in all interactions with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and families, ensuring care is free of bias, racism and assumptions.
- Apply clinical midwifery expertise, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation, to deliver a high standard of woman and baby centred care.
