About the role

The Principal Dentist will provide senior clinical expertise and operational leadership within Metro North Oral Health Services, with a primary focus on the School Dental Service. This position balances hands‑on clinical care with leadership responsibilities to support consistent, high‑quality oral health outcomes for eligible patients across Metro North Health.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Lead evidence-based patient centred, standardised, safe and high-quality care in SDS.
  • Ensure patient access through appropriate management of client demand (and waiting lists), maintenance of appropriate levels of clinical care and support services at all clinics within MNOHS, and ensure all clients are treated in turn and referred appropriately if required.
  • Meet the MNOHS Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that allow the service to meet or exceed Queensland Health's KPIs around patient access and service activity.
  • Provide efficient and effective management of the allocated resources for each clinic to achieve service agreement performance targets and maintain budget integrity, including labour and non-labour expenditure.
  • Oversee the professional development strategy for each professional/workforce stream within the clinic to ensure the workforce is educated and competent to meet changing and emerging needs of clients and ensure each staff member completes and maintains a personal Performance and Development plan.
