The purpose of this position is to contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a fit for purpose and robust operational assurance framework for the Intelligence and Investigations Branch. Community Corrections and Specialist Operations division. The Principal Adviser, Operational Governance and Risk will be responsible for undertaking a range of assurance, governance and business intelligence activities across Intelligence and Investigations Branch. Community Corrections and Specialist Operations.
In this role you will:
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a fit for purpose and robust operational assurance framework for the Intelligence and Investigations Branch.
- Provide high level and quality expert advice and recommendations to the senior managers on a diverse and complex range of issues including performance outcomes and high-risk governance matters.
- Work closely with senior managers to drive the continued development, implementation, evaluation and enhancement of the governance arrangements that operate within each business unit to ensure their statutory, procedural and performance obligations are met.
- Work closely with business units and key stakeholders to respond effectively to findings and recommendations made by oversight bodies that review and evaluate the divisions performance.
- Develop, review and evaluate key performance reporting mechanisms and maintain counting rules ensuring they meet strategic and operational information requirements.
- Incorporate effective risk management and undertake operational and strategic risk monitoring and reporting.
- Monitor and coordinate governance reporting activities on behalf of Intelligence and Investigations Branch.
- Prepare business cases, reports, submissions, briefings and correspondence.
- Aggregate data and analyse trends including the completion of thematic reviews.
- Undertake statistical analysis of data relating to relevant aspects of divisional operations and activities.
- Develop and prepare performance and trend reports (including graphical visualisation) to support effective performance monitoring.
- Review and monitor measures utilised for monitoring, control and improvement that are viable, accurate and effective.
- Maintain own high level of knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures in order to provide high level support, tools and guidance to Intelligence and Investigations Branch senior management and staff to enable them to meet their accountability obligations.
- Maintain own high-level knowledge of contemporary issues involving QCS ensuring areas of potential risk associated with Intelligence and Investigations Branch functions are identified, analysed and managed appropriately.
- Demonstrated high level negotiation and liaison skills with a range of key internal and external stakeholders to enhance service provision and maintain effective governance and risk strategies.
