This is a progressional position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of both classification ranges.

Why this Role?

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Weekly/fortnightly mowing/trimming of all grass areas including ovals, maintaining existing gardens including regular weeding, regularly maintain and clearing drains and gutters; daily raking of sandpits
  • Assist with a range of duties including the collection of waste, food and paper on school grounds, undertaking immediate action cleaning duties where necessary
  • Assist with set up/take down etc for significant events such as major sporting events
  • Security of facilities including the locking and unlocking of buildings (within core hours)
  • Maintaining facilities including but not limited to buildings, seating, gates, amenities (excludes qualified trade work)
  • Communicating and supporting on-site trades people/building companies as directed by the Principal/Business Manager
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements including maintenance of a safe work environment; safe storage and handling of chemicals, fertilisers and fuels; bring to appropriate attention any safety hazards; manage equipment records; and maintain tools and equipment for repair services (as per manufacturer's service manual)
  • Attend to/or arrange repairs and maintenance within the school, including those which relate to furniture and equipment; locks and windows; adjusting/adding chemicals as consistent with occupational, health and safety (WHS) guidelines and procedures); and school facilities
  • Provide basic maintenance of equipment specific to schools including but not limited to mowers, cutters, power tools etc
  • Work as a member of a team, contributing to our positive school culture

  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Some experience working with grounds and landscaping
  • Be able to work with others
  • Positive attitude and be able to achieve set tasks
