This is a significant Director-level role within Queensland's expanding rail infrastructure pipeline, with responsibility for shaping how major projects navigate environmental approvals and deliver sustainable outcomes at scale.
As Director (Rail Approvals & Environment), you will lead the development and application of frameworks that guide environmental approvals, regulatory compliance and sustainability across a portfolio of complex, high-value rail investments. These include nationally significant projects that will transform the passenger rail network and support delivery milestones linked to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The role operates across the full lifecycle of infrastructure delivery, where decisions directly influence program certainty, public confidence and long-term network performance. You will provide authoritative advice on approval strategies, regulatory risk and environmental performance—ensuring projects meet statutory obligations while progressing efficiently through complex approval pathways.
Working across government, regulators and delivery partners, you will play a central role in negotiating and resolving challenging issues in high‑risk, time‑critical environments. Your influence will extend beyond individual projects, shaping consistent approaches to approvals and sustainability that strengthen delivery across the broader program.
You will also define how sustainability is embedded into planning and delivery - advancing approaches to carbon reduction, circular economy practices and social inclusion in a way that is practical, measurable and aligned with government priorities.
As the discipline lead for environmental approvals and sustainability, you will set expectations, establish governance and ensure alignment between project requirements and program‑wide objectives. This includes strengthening assurance, performance monitoring and risk management practices to support transparent, compliant and consistent delivery.
Success in this role will enable major rail investments to proceed with clarity and confidence - balancing delivery imperatives with environmental responsibility, and contributing to infrastructure outcomes that support communities across Queensland for decades to come.
