Manager Building and Technical Inspectorate (Systems and Operational Support)

Lead statewide impact - driving consistency, capability, and continuous improvement across building inspections. The Manager Building and Technical Inspectorate (Systems and Operational Support) or Manager BTI (SOS) is a high impact leadership role shaping the strategic direction and delivery of statewide building inspection services. Leading and empowering a team, the role blends strong people leadership, sound judgement, and collaboration to deliver operational excellence. With a hands on, improvement focused approach, the Manager oversees work allocation, inspector training, recruitment, procurement, and the Capacity Uplift Trial Team, while managing budgets, resolving disputes, and embedding audit outcomes into business as usual. Working closely with Mediation & Conciliation leadership, the role drives earlier dispute resolution and strong consumer and regulatory outcomes.

About the role
This role is where leadership, technical expertise, and real‑world impact come together. Leading the QBCC's Building Inspectors within the Building and Technical Inspectorate, you set the standard for how building disputes are resolved and how confidence in the Queensland Home Warranty Scheme is upheld. You will guide and motivate a statewide technical team, oversee performance and capability, and provide expert advice on complex construction, compliance, and legislative matters. Working at the intersection of regulation, industry, and community, you influence outcomes through early dispute resolution, sound regulatory judgement, and strong stakeholder relationships - ensuring consistent, high‑quality building standards that protect consumers and support a fair, functional construction industry.
About you
You bring demonstrated leadership experience, communicating with purpose, building trust, and supporting others to achieve strong outcomes. A self‑driven professional, you work autonomously to improve services and deliver accountable results, while building collaborative relationships and fostering inclusive, safe workplaces. You lead with professionalism and hold, or are eligible for, a QBCC Building Licence, with government leadership experience and relevant qualifications highly regarded.
