About the Role:

The Head of Curriculum role at Doomadgee State School is a leadership position focused on improving teaching quality, curriculum implementation, student achievement and whole-school instructional practices within a remote Prep-Year 10 setting. The school's vision is to empower students towards “a Life of Choice” through culturally responsive and context-rich learning experiences.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Leading curriculum planning and implementation aligned to the Australian Curriculum
  • Coaching and supporting teachers to strengthen pedagogical practice
  • Using student data to drive school improvement priorities
  • Supporting literacy, numeracy and engagement strategies
  • Working collaboratively with leadership, teachers, families and community
  • Ensuring curriculum delivery is culturally responsive and appropriate for the Doomadgee context
  • Contributing to whole-school improvement agendas and professional learning

The role would suit an experienced educator with strong instructional leadership capability, experience in curriculum and pedagogy, and a commitment to working in a rural and remote Indigenous community setting. Remote area incentives and professional growth opportunities are commonly associated with leadership positions in North Queensland remote schools.
