In this role, you’ll give clear advice on apprenticeships, traineeships and other departmental programs we offer. You’ll work with employers, schools, training providers, industry and community groups, visiting sites, answering questions and providing support.

As a Field Officer, you will work with employers, schools, training providers and community organisations to promote workforce development initiatives across Queensland. You will provide advice on VET programs, apprenticeships and Mtraineeships, conduct site visits, interpret departmental policies, and deliver highquality client service to support stakeholders and strengthen training and employment outcomes.
In this role, you will help increase VET participation and completion rates, promote the benefits of training, and support local workforce development strategies. Success will rely on your ability to build strong relationships, solve problems, and advocate for quality training opportunities.
As part of the DTET regional team, you will contribute to delivering local services aligned with departmental priorities, including regulating apprenticeships and traineeships, investing in training to address skills shortages, and supporting programs such as Skilling Queenslanders for Work. You will also support continuous improvement across Queensland's VET sector and provide advice on employment and training issues shaping workforce development statewide.
About the role
As the Field Officer, you will
• Provide guidance to employers, schools, training providers, and community organizations on VET programs, apprenticeships, traineeships, and workforce development initiatives.
• Actively promote the benefits of training, skills development, and VET pathways to increase participation and completion rates across Queensland.
• Support the planning and execution of regional training and workforce initiatives to create employment opportunities and address skills gaps.
• Monitor stakeholder performance, provide education, and support capacitybuilding efforts to enhance training outcomes.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen Queensland's vocational education and training system.
What we are looking for
The position requires an applicant who can:
• Demonstrate knowledge of (or the ability to quickly learn) Queensland's vocational education and training system, workforce development issues, and departmental programs.
• Has ability to research, collect and analyse data, investigate issues, manage projects, and make informed decisions to achieve regional objectives
• Deliver accurate, timely work while actively contributing to team and regional goals.
• Engage with stakeholders, manage conflict, negotiate, problem-solve, and confidently present information both verbally and in writing.
