An exciting opportunity waits for a motivated and experienced leader to join the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) as a OO6 Ranger in Charge.
QPWS is seeking a highly capable and motivated person to lead the delivery of key conservation and community-focused initiatives across the Sunshine Coast Area, all while staying hands-on with core ranger responsibilities.
In this unique role, you'll work alongside the Senior Ranger to deliver positive outcomes in the diverse protected areas of the Sunshine Coast.
You will lead a ranger team and contribute to essential on-ground operations — including fire, pest and visitor management delivering solid conservation management outcomes.

As Ranger in Charge, you will lead your team in delivering key natural resource management programs, including fire and pest management, capital works delivery and asset maintenance programs. You will also be responsible for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of your team, park visitors, and the effective management of compliance activities.
Fire management is a high priority in this role due to the proximity of large urban and peri-urban interface areas. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a high level of planning, stakeholder engagement, and operational oversight to assist with and deliver complex burn programs in these areas. A reasonable level of physical fitness is required to undertake and supervise core field duties.
