What your day could look like

As a Social Worker, you'll play a valued role in supporting patients, families and clinical teams to navigate complex situations with care and clarity. Working in a regional hospital setting, you'll balance client‑centred practice with teamwork, contributing to outcomes that strengthen wellbeing across the community.

Every day, you'll contribute by:

  • Supporting patients and families to navigate social, emotional and practical challenges, helping them feel informed, supported and heard
  • Working alongside multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care, manage risk and support safe transitions across services
  • Applying professional judgement to complex situations, including crisis support, discharge planning and advocacy
  • Contributing to service quality through ethical practice, clear documentation and ideas that improve how care is delivered

Let's talk about you!

You're someone who brings calm, compassion and clarity into challenging moments. You value dignity and integrity, communicate thoughtfully, and know how to support people when it matters most. In this role, you'll take pride in helping individuals and families feel supported, respected and empowered while contributing to a health service that genuinely values community connection. You're not just here to meet expectations — you're here to make a positive, lasting difference.

Here's what will help you thrive in this role:

  • Eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Experience delivering evidence‑based social work services in health or community settings
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Sound professional judgement, empathy, and a commitment to ethical, person‑centred care

You'll stand out from the crowd if you have experience in rural or regional practice and/or postgraduate training relevant to health social work.

Most importantly, you'll bring the values we live by at Darling Downs Health — compassion, integrity, dignity, innovation and courage — and use them to support people, strengthen outcomes and build trust every day.
