The Principal Health Information Management for the Clinical Coding Solution Project will provide strategic and tactical subject matter expertise across the full scope of the Clinical Coding Solution Project including across the Health Information Management (200FTE) and Clinical Coding workforce (400FTE), provide consultancy level advice on technology, coding practice, change readiness, transition plans and clinical coding workforce matters.
What you'll do
As the Principal HIM and Change Management, you will provide authoritative expert advice and consultancy on health information management and clinical coding to project teams, governance committees and stakeholders, including influencing policy and procedure change. You will lead the development of a Change Readiness Standard to support Hospital and Health Services in preparing for the implementation of computer‑assisted clinical coding, and oversee the delivery of a comprehensive change management approach across Queensland. This includes guiding workforce transition, ensuring statewide consistency of business‑as‑usual coding practices, managing change champions within HHSs, and maintaining coding throughput during implementation. You will also lead the preparation of complex executive briefs and reports, and establish influential partnerships with senior leaders, government agencies, academia and industry to maximise collaboration and project outcomes.
About you
We are searching for someone who has:
- Demonstrated ability to communicate, consult, negotiate and influence effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels, supported by strong written and interpersonal skills.
- Proven capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively in complex environments, managing priorities and deadlines to deliver successful project outcomes.
- High‑level knowledge of contemporary health information management practices, including digital hospital environments, information governance, data quality and privacy.
- Strong understanding of, or ability to interpret and advise on, relevant legislation, standards and policies governing health information management, clinical coding and documentation.
- Well‑developed leadership and people management capability, including coordinating professional staff, leading continuous improvement, and managing impacts associated with major digital or clinical coding initiatives.
