An exciting opportunity exists for a Deputy Principal to join the foundation leadership team of a new special school in Logan Reserve, co-locating with the new secondary school campus.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced and passionate educational leader to work in close partnership with the Principal to establish the school's culture, systems, instructional practices and community connections from the ground up. The new special school will provide high-quality educational programs for students with diverse learning and communication needs. The co-located setting will support opportunities for collaboration, inclusive practices and shared learning experiences across both school communities.

About the Role:

 As a foundation Deputy Principal, you will contribute to establishing strong systems, practices and partnerships that support excellence in teaching, learning and student engagement, you will work collaboratively with the Principal to lead high-quality teaching and learning and establish a positive, inclusive and high-expectations school culture.

The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to:

  • Lead high-quality teaching and learning, with a focus on improving outcomes for students with diverse learning and communication needs, including Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
  • Build staff capability through coaching, modelling and data-informed feedback
  • Lead whole-school approaches to student engagement and behaviour, including Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)
  • Contribute to the development of effective systems and processes to support school operations
  • Work collaboratively within a co-located setting to support inclusive practices and shared opportunities
  • Build strong partnerships with families, community organisations and external agencies
  • Demonstrated expertise in transition-to-school practices, including collaboration with early childhood providers, families and external agencies

The ideal candidate will demonstrate adaptability, initiative and a strong commitment to inclusive education and will be motivated by the opportunity to contribute to the establishment of a new school community.
