About us:
The Cardiac Care Unit operates a twelve-bed unit provides care for cardiac patients inclusive of but not limited to Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS), Electrophysiology (EP), Heart Failure (HF) and cardiac intervention. Staff in this unit work closely with the Cardiac Catheter Laboratory, Cardiac Investigation Unit, the Electrophysiology service and the Heart Health Team to provide a holistic patient journey for cardiac patients in Far North Queensland.
Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service provide an extensive range of health services at more than 30 regional, rural and remote facilities across a geographical area of 142,900 square kilometres. The Health Service is 95 percent self-sufficient with only a small number of high-level acute services being provided in Townsville and Brisbane.

About your role:
- Demonstrate expertise and advanced clinical skills in care of cardiac and general medical patients.
- Maintain the safety of recipients of healthcare services by identifying risk and undertaking safe work activities within the clinical practice environment.
- Support nursing practice and learning experiences by providing in service teaching, orientation, and preceptorship for the nursing team.
- Apply evidence-based guidelines to achieve positive care outcomes for recipients of healthcare services.
