As a Scientist Pathology with Pathology Queensland, you will perform as a valued team member within the Thursday Island laboratory, helping to deliver effective and efficient pathology services across the Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service and associated facilities. You will ensure laboratory practices align with Pathology Queensland standards while maintaining a strong commitment to quality, accuracy and patient care.

Key competencies (role specific criteria)

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

  • Perform duties with a high degree of independence and with infrequent scientific supervision.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and skill in the delivery of scientific judgement within a multidiscipline laboratory.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in a multidisciplinary team and contribute a range of diagnostic skills relevant to the discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply established principles to a multidisciplinary service with provision of results and clinical advice in a client focused manner.
  • Demonstrated ability (or ability to rapidly acquire the skill) to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvements activities in accordance with NATA/ISO accreditation / certification.
