In this role, you will be responsible for the collection of pathology specimens from patients within and attending the hospital, while also contributing to a range of general laboratory duties that support the smooth operation of the service. You will work within a professional, patient-focused environment alongside experienced clinical and laboratory teams committed to excellence in diagnostic services. Key competencies (role specific criteria)

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

• Demonstrated experience or ability to acquire experience in the correct procedures of specimen
• collection/phlebotomy including the application of established policies and guidelines with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge of the importance of standard precautions in dealing with patients and biological specimens.
• Proven ability to follow instructions and work conscientiously and accurately with minimal supervision after careful instruction.
• Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a team and to communicate effectively with clients, clinical staff and colleagues
• Positive focus upon patient care within a hospital health care environment.
• Demonstrate a high level of commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement.
