Phlebotomist

In this role, you will be responsible for the collection of pathology specimens from patients within and attending the hospital, while also contributing to a range of general laboratory duties that support the smooth operation of the service. Join a dedicated and supportive team of Phlebotomists at The Prince Charles Hospital, where your work plays a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care across the Pathology Queensland network.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated experience or ability to acquire experience in the correct procedures of specimen
- collection/phlebotomy including the application of established policies and guidelines with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge of the importance of standard precautions in dealing with patients and biological specimens.
- Proven ability to follow instructions and work conscientiously and accurately with minimal supervision after careful instruction.
- Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a team and to communicate effectively with clients, clinical staff and colleagues
- Positive focus upon patient care within a hospital health care environment.
- Demonstrate a high level of commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement.
