Senior Community Engagement Officer

The position of Senior Community Engagement Officer will improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and communities affected by permanent hearing loss. This will be achieved through planning, implementing, coordinating and evaluating a wide range of sustainable, culturally appropriate, evidence-based community development projects and strategies in partnership with key family and community members, service providers and stakeholders, under the state-wide Healthy Hearing Program.

About the Team
The Healthy Hearing Program is a statewide service comprising a multidisciplinary team that provides leadership, clinical services, coordination and data management for Queensland's early hearing loss detection program. Working closely with maternity services, state-wide audiology, medical, early intervention, family supports and childhood hearing service providers and partners across Queensland, the team supports timely, coordinated and family‑centred care for babies and children and their families.
About the Role
In this role you will coach and support others to deliver for children, young people and families (Leader of Others) in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values. Your contribution will include:
- In consultation with the Director Healthy Hearing, improve Healthy Hearing Program's capacity to identify and respond to the complex service delivery issues relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their carers.
- Apply high level health promotion knowledge, principles and practices for a range of health disciplines. These will be used to lead the development, implementation and evaluation of complex initiatives that will address contemporary health promotion priorities at a state-wide level to improve the hearing health, development and communication of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
