The Townsville University Hospital are seeking an experienced and client focused Physiotherapy Assistant to join their Physiotherapy Department.

PLEASE NOTE: There is 1 x permanent full-time and 2 x temporary full-time roles - 30/06/2027, with a possible 12 months extension.

About the opportunity   

The Physiotherapy Assistant contributes to patient care by providing clinical support tasks delegated under the direct or indirect supervision of a Physiotherapist within a 7-day service.

PLEASE NOTE - These roles will be required to work a roster that includes weekend work. 

Role requirements

  • While not mandatory, a Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance would be well regarded.
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:

  • Clinical Ability:
    • Under supervision, demonstrated ability to provide a defined range of patient interventions as delegated by the Physiotherapist.
    • Ability to work under direction and within the limitations of a defined role in patient care.
    • Ability to effectively use computers and general office equipment and to quickly acquire ability to use new information and data systems.
    • Ability to learn and commitment to train in specific handling and technical skills and competencies relevant to the position.

  • Team Participation/ Communication:
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively as part of a team with a good understanding of own scope of practice in a complex and demanding work environment.
    • Demonstrated skills in self-organisation and initiative to enable the timely completion of a variety of tasks allowing efficient service function.
