The North Queensland Region spans the Far North, North West and Northern districts, with offices in Cairns, Cloncurry and Townsville. Covering more than 589,000 square kilometres (38.2% of Queensland), the region supports over 546,000 people across 35 local government areas. It plays a vital role in enabling key industries including agriculture, tourism, fishing, mining and retail. Cloncurry, known as the “Warm Heart of the Outback,” has a population of 
approximately 2,385 and is located 120km east of Mount Isa. The town offers direct flights to Townsville and Brisbane, quality schooling options (Prep to Year 12), childcare services, and accessible local health care.

In the role of Senior Engineer (Civil), some of your responsibilities will include:
• Providing support and advice on the planning and design process, to ensure delivery of project outcomes, value for money and best practice are achieved.
• Maintaining and applying all relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements necessary for the design and construction of road infrastructure projects.
• Determining the engineering requirements, including materials, critical components and systems, involved in supporting project management and delivery.
• Managing projects, you will have the responsibility to plan, assign, direct, supervise and coordinate work activities of subordinates and staff that would include encouraging teamwork and fostering a positive attitude toward the achievement of organisational objectives.
• Managing and maintaining effective liaison and communication with all levels of internal and external stakeholders on all matters relating to transport infrastructure delivery activities.
• Undertaking contract management and administration of road infrastructure projects.

We focus on developing engineers by providing experience across full project cycles, continuous training and opportunities to explore areas such as network operations and asset management. This broad exposure helps build strong career portfolios, supporting progression and RPEQ certification. To succeed in this role, you will possess:
• A Washington Accord accredited four-year degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent recognised by Engineers Australia.
• Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is mandatory for appointment to the position, however applications will also be considered if evidence is provided that an assessment for RPEQ has commenced.
• Current holder of a Class C driver licence.
• Must be eligible to work in Australia.
• It is a condition of employment that the recommended applicant is to disclose any previous serious discipline action taken against them for consideration by the delegate prior to any appointment.
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
