As a Fire Safety and Security Officer at the Herberton Hospital you’ll help maintain a safe and secure environment by responding to security incidents, fire alarms, and emergencies. You’ll also support staff training in security, fire safety, and evacuations. The role includes supporting four older persons’ wards with patient transport, transfers, manual handling, and general operational services. This is a hands-on, varied role operating on a 24/7 rotational roster.Job details

About us:
Herberton Hospital offers 24-hour support for its aged care residents and has 38 beds, accommodating both long-stay and respite patients. Acute cases are triaged and, when necessary, referred to Atherton Hospital via QAS. Palliative patients receive dedicated nursing care, ensuring compassionate treatment.

About your role:
- Conduct regular inspections of buildings & equipment to ensure service ability of equipment and effective fire safety precautions are ob Coordinate, maintain cleaning and waste removal across facility with Operational Service staff.
- Submit written reports on all security related incidents.
- Patrol the hospital facility buildings including accommodation and regularly checking all entry/ exit doors are locked to ensure a safe working environment for staff, patients and visitors.
- Ensure personal safety of staff within the facility and grounds.
- Assist patient de-escation and reducing environmental stimulis.
