The role:
This project is focused on migrating the Clinical Information Systems Support Unit (CISSU) environment from legacy data centre infrastructure to a modern enterprise-managed platform. The initiative aims to improve system stability, security, and long-term supportability while reducing operational risks associated with ageing hardware and unsupported software.
The project requires a Senior System Engineer to lead the successful delivery of operational and technical outcomes, aligned with Queensland Health's ICT governance and the ITIL Service Management framework. The role will provide high-level technical leadership for the migration of a range of Clinical Information Technology systems that deliver health-related data services for Queensland Health and its clients.
This position will lead the planning, testing, and implementation of complex infrastructure architecture solutions, ensuring the successful delivery of project outcomes and supporting the transition of critical systems to the new enterprise platform.
Your responsibilities include:
- Maintain an efficient and secure operational environment by consulting, advising, and providing system design, product installation and operational support for highly complex and multi-faceted infrastructure-based systems including application solutions; server and network configuration and layout; environment planning and design; firewall planning; and user privileges, ensuring compliance with operational and project requirements and safety engineering standards.
- Participate in a team of specialist technical resources within the Clinical Information Systems and Support Unit (CISSU) Infrastructure Migration (CIM) project in an effective and collaborative manner, establishing and communicating priorities and allocating resources to meet workload demands.
- Undertake the assessment, analysis, development, documentation, implementation planning and delivery of complex IM/ICT changes and solutions, including the evaluation of risks to the integrity of infrastructure inherent in proposed implementations and ensuring that service delivery meets future client demands.
- Work closely with other teams within ICT to manage collaborative relationships and consultations with senior stakeholders across Queensland Health and external technology vendors to develop, implement and integrate required changes to architecture, design, and management of ICT infrastructure.
- Ensure the continual development and improvement of technical solution designs.
Are you right for this role?
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a proven ability to meet service delivery targets and implement measurable service improvements by effectively managing workloads, setting priorities, and working independently with minimal supervision. You will also possess strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate, provide expert advice, and foster collaboration across teams. In addition, you will have a track record of developing and promoting ITIL Service Management processes.
You will have experience in:
- designing, configuring and documenting enterprise systems with experience in VMWare and some or all of the following hardware and software: Microsoft server and SQL, Citrix, Netware, Solaris, Oracle, various desktop applications and utilities, SANs, Comms, HP, IBM servers and Storage (SFIA: DESN 5)
