About the role

As the Advanced Pharmacist, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to deliver safe, effective and value-based pharmacy services at the Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Service (STARS). You will lead the Medicines Strategy and Outpatients team, driving service improvement initiatives, standardising workflows, and enhancing medicines governance across the continuum of care. The role also involves overseeing outpatient pharmacy operations, managing team performance, workforce planning and education, and contributing to organisational strategy.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Demonstrate expert clinical leadership for the development of governance and organisational plans for addressing key medication safety issues in line with the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards in collaboration with key stakeholders across STARS including those streams within Medicine Services, DMN Clinical Informatics and Safety and Quality.
  • Facilitate a patient safety ethos with all employees within STARS to achieve an organisational culture in which patient safety and clinical risk management is an integral part of core business.
  • Work collaboratively and initiate and sustain engagement with key stakeholders and clinicians across various disciplines to deliver successful outcomes through effective consultation, negotiation, issues resolution and change influence.
  • Provide regular reporting to the relevant medicines and therapeutics committees within STARS and Metro North as required to enhance medicines management service delivery, quality outcomes and/or patient services.
  • Participation in relevant pharmacy management groups and other committees where applicable and providing high level clinical and medicine policy advice to senior managers/executives. Contribution to or oversight of the development of guidelines, work instructions, policies and procedures
