About the Role

You will oversee implementation across four regions and multiple regional offices, ensuring alignment with government priorities, departmental strategy and legislative and governance requirements. This includes establishing strong performance and reporting rhythms, managing risk, and taking timely action to address emerging delivery issues.

The role requires active leadership in complex stakeholder environments, including direct engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, senior executives, Ministers, and cross‑government partners. You will be expected to provide clear, accurate advice, and to balance local responsiveness with statewide consistency and accountability.

You will also lead organisational uplift across regional operations, strengthening operating models, workforce capability, governance and implementation practices to support sustained improvement.

The ideal candidate
You are an experienced senior executive with a demonstrated track record in leading large scale regional operations or service delivery functions. You are comfortable operating at pace, managing competing priorities, and making evidence informed decisions in complex and high visibility environments.

You will be someone who has:

  • Proven experience leading large, geographically dispersed workforces
  • Strong operational governance, performance management and risk capability
  • The ability to translate policy and strategy into disciplined, measurable implementation
  • Confidence to intervene decisively where delivery, risk or performance issues arise
  • Credibility with Ministers, executives and sector partners
  • A delivery mindset and the ability to uplift capability through inclusive and decisive leadership

Whilst not an identified position, experience working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities, is essential.

Why This Role?

  • Lead statewide regional implementation with significant operational accountability
  • Shape how government priorities are delivered on the ground across Queensland
  • Deliver outcomes at community, regional and state levels
  • Operate as part of the department's senior executive leadership cohort
  • Develop and lead a large, complex workforce through ongoing transformation, essential for an executive career in the Public Sector

The department values diversity and strongly encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disability, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and others who bring diverse skills and perspectives.
