About us:

Rockhampton Hospital is a 305-bed regional referral hospital delivering a comprehensive range of specialist medical and surgical services to Central Queensland.

Our Geriatric and Rehabilitation Services (GARS) operates from a purpose-built 16-bed facility, providing inpatient, ambulatory and outreach care through a multidisciplinary team approach. The Rehabilitation Physician works collaboratively with clinical leaders, including the Nurse Unit Manager and Program Coordinator, to deliver high-quality rehabilitation and geriatric care.

About the role:

  • Provide expert opinion on patients with medical issues in Emergency Department when required and participate actively in-patient flow and bed capacity management.
  • Provide clinical supervision for Registrars/Principal House Officers, junior and senior house officers.
  • Provide quality leadership based on evidenced-based practices and by demonstrating and enabling adequate communication to all stakeholders along the patient's continuum of care.
  • Provide high level of interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral, including the capacity to consult, negotiate and resolve conflict.
  • Provide education on their specialist area through training seminars and tutorials to clinical staff.

About you:

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia is mandatory.
  • Fellowship of the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (FAFRM) and eligible for registration as a Specialist with the Medical Board of Australia in Rehabilitation Medicine. Applicants with equivalent overseas qualifications assessed as substantially comparable by the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine may also be considered.
  • Enrolment and maintenance of ongoing Continuing Medical Education (CME) program with the appropriate bodies. 
    • To be appointed permanently, you must be an Australian citizen, have permanent residency status or have a visa permitting you to work permanently in Australia.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $550,085 p.a. is comprised of:

  • A salary rate between $216,643 - $251,642 p.a. (L18 – L24)
  • A salary rate between $259,072 - $274,678 p.a. (L25 – L27)
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
