To supervise the scientific, technical and operational activities of the Molecular Diagnostic Unit (MDU), Microbiology to ensure a high-quality service for routine high throughput molecular testing for infectious diseases and the preparedness for future pandemics.

Key competencies (role specific criteria)

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

• Demonstrated advanced level of knowledge, expertise and skills in high throughput molecular diagnostics of infectious diseases in a pathology setting.
• Demonstrated skills in developing and validating assays in molecular diagnostics within a Microbiology laboratory.
• Demonstrated ability to provide advice state-wide on a broad range of issues pertaining to service delivery and results issued by the Molecular Diagnostic Unit.
• Demonstrated ability to provide scientific services to ensure the maintenance of regulatory clinical standards and established principles/procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to lead change through quality and service improvement activities and provide supervision of personnel.
