QCS is changing the mental health model and there has never been a better time to come to work with us. We've introduced new roles and multi-discipline clinicians and leaders to further strengthen how we deliver Mental Health Services.

The role:

You'll join our team at the Palen Creek Correctional Centre, which accommodates low security male prisoners. As part of the mental health services team, you'll provide a range of clinical support to adults in our care including:

  • Conducting independent risk assessments of harm to self or others, including acute or chronic risk
  • Providing psychoeducation related to mental health conditions, symptoms and treatment options to individuals
  • Delivering individual or group-based skill acquisition focused interventions aimed at developing coping skills and building resilience

The Location:

Palen Creek Correctional Centre operates within an open campus style rural environment and maximises opportunities for prisoners to participate in and benefit from high quality rehabilitative programs. The Centre and its associated Work Camps provide valuable community assistance to approximately 141 community organisations.

The centre is situated in the picturesque Scenic Rim Region, around 1-2 hours drive from Brisbane and the Gold Coast. The area is surrounded by national parks with rainforests, waterfalls and mountain ranges in every direction.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology and registration or eligibility for registration with APHRA; OR
  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy and registration or eligibility for registration with APHRA; OR
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work and membership or eligibility for membership with AASW; AND
  • C Class Driver's Licence

Important Information:

To ensure a strong and well supported start, the successful candidate will spend a minimum of eight weeks onboarding at the Brisbane Correctional Centre in Wacol. This provides access to a larger team and broader learning opportunities, helping you build confidence and capability before transitioning to the Palen Creek Correctional Centre. Please keep this temporary travel requirement in mind when applying.
