An exciting opportunity exists for a dedicated and dynamic individual to join the leadership team at Runcorn State High School.

As the Head of Department English and Languages, you will lead the curriculum area of Communication, encompassing English and Languages, in line with departmental and school initiatives. You will also be responsible for the leadership of the school EALD program.

This is a temporary full-time position to commence from 13 July 2026 until 25 June 2027, unless otherwise determined.

About the Role

The Head of Department- English and Languages, known locally as Head of Department - Communications, will include:

  • Lead the relevant curriculum areas/whole school programs to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focused on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.
  • Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the curriculum areas or whole school program to achieve goals.
