About us:

Gladstone Hospital is a 70-bed regional facility delivering a broad range of inpatient and outpatient healthcare services. Our hospital provides emergency care, general medicine and surgery, basic orthopaedics, obstetrics, maternity and gynaecology services, as well as high dependency and coronary care.

Additional services include palliative care, paediatrics, medical imaging, pathology, and clinical investigation services. The hospital also supports the community through Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Services, oral health, physiotherapy, dietetics, speech pathology, and a range of outreach and community-based programs.

About the role:

  • Utilise specialised knowledge, clinical expertise, and advanced practice skills to support the comprehensive clinical management of patients with diabetes.
  • Apply advanced clinical assessment, diagnostic reasoning, care planning, and problem-solving skills to effectively manage individuals with diabetes across the care continuum.
  • Integrate the Australian Diabetes Educators Association (ADEA) guidelines and contemporary best evidence into clinical decision-making, education, and care delivery to achieve positive and sustainable health outcomes.
  • Provide clinical leadership through mentoring, coaching, and role modelling professional behaviours. Support capability development within the team and foster a collaborative, respectful, and inclusive multidisciplinary environment.

About you:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a current annual practising certificate are mandatory for this position.
  • Demonstrated broad knowledge of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards, expressing key actions a portfolio team could undertake to achieve and sustain these care standards.
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical evidence-based skill and knowledge and interdisciplinary care and management of gestational, type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development of self and others, identify strategy and experiences that evidence this.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability through knowledge of team engagement, decision making frameworks and risk mitigation strategy applicable to the coordination of safe, effective and efficient care.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $36,205 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $57.48 - $61.55 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
