The Principal Advisor (Applications) leads the RoadTek Applications team to deliver, support and continuously improve critical business systems that enable operational performance across the state.
This role oversees the full application lifecycle, including development, integration and support, leveraging Microsoft technologies (Dynamics, Power BI, Power Platform) and Azure DevOps pipelines to drive process automation and data-driven decision making.
RoadTek is a commercial business within the Department of Transport and Main Roads. We provide transport infrastructure solutions for projects across Queensland. As the Principal Advisor (Applications), you will provide strategic and operational leadership to the RoadTek Applications team, ensuring the effective development, delivery and continuous improvement of critical business systems that support frontline operations across the state. The role is responsible for managing the full application lifecycle, including development, testing, deployment and ongoing upport, with a strong focus on reliability, usability and alignment to business needs.
You will leverage Microsoft technologies, including Dynamics, Power BI and the Power Platform, to transform and streamline business processes, improving data quality, visibility and operational efficiency. The role also oversees Azure DevOps pipelines across development, test and production environments, ensuring robust and controlled system releases.
Some other key responsibilities:
• Supervise a team of three direct reports to provide application support across RoadTek operations, ensuring effective use and adoption.
• Manage third party vendors to deliver support and upgrades to RoadTek's existing suite of applications.
• Lead RoadTek's data reference group to ensure good governance in data collection, usage and data analysis across RoadTek.
• Deliver training to RoadTek operations in the use of applications and data collection to ensure optimal usage across the State.
• Work with Project Managers and other key stakeholders across RoadTek to ensure smooth delivery of new Applications through the project lifecycle (concept, plan, build, deliver).
• Liaise with RoadTek stakeholders and other branch leads to explore innovations and opportunities that may include AI or Robotic Processing.
• Act in accordance with the Queensland Public Service legislative framework and Code of Conduct. Model ethical behaviour and consistently applies those ethical standards to self and others.
• Commitment to Transport and Main Roads' Workplace Health & Safety Policy.
Desirable requirements:
• High level proficiency in the Microsoft suite of software, including SharePoint, Power Platform, Dynamics 365, Power Automate and Power Apps.
