Principal Project Officer

You will be experienced working collaboratively across service systems to assess individual and/or system level needs of children and young people with complex support needs. You will have experience acting to maximise service access and utilisation by clients and identifying barriers to access and utilisation.

You will be committed to person-centred approaches to service delivery that create service access equity through driving integrated efforts that maximise outcomes.

You will be confident working in multidisciplinary, specialist teams that demonstrate leadership through collaboration, innovation and problem solving for people who need support navigating multiple complex service systems or may have had limited or no engagement with disability and/or other mainstream services.

Your responsibilities

As a Principal Program Officer you will:

• Undertake project work to inform Senior Executives on the benefits, barriers, and performance of the NDIS in responding to the needs of children with disability known to the child protection system.
• Proactively identify appropriate options to improve the integration of the combined NDIS and child safety service response to children with disability.
• Engage Child Safety colleagues to identify children with disability known to the child protection system who may be eligible for the NDIS, have been unsuccessful in testing eligibility and/or need support to appeal access and planning decisions.
• Collaborate with agency colleagues to build the knowledge and capability of the child protection sector in navigating the NDIS and disability service systems.
• Work with Child Safety colleagues to review systemic impacts of NDIS Plan utilisation, to review operational and management strategies for alternative commissioning models and identify opportunities for future service management.
• Use strong interpersonal communication to establish and maintain partnerships and working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve outcomes for children and young people with complex disability support needs.
• Prepare and contribute to a range of written materials including submissions, executive correspondence, briefing material, speech notes and information papers related to the role.
• Maintain records and reporting systems and coordinate and prepare input into regular performance management reports on program and project actions and outputs, and work across the team to deliver systemic review outcomes.
• Perform other tasks as required by senior leadership.
• Have knowledge of service delivery to children and young people with complex support needs, including the interface and interactions between key service systems, such as:
  o the NDIS, including services and barriers experienced by people with disability in engaging with utilising services.
  o the Queensland child protection system, and
  o the interface with mainstream health and mental health services for children and young people.

Your mandatory requirements

• Queensland Disability Worker Screening clearance.
• Possession of a C class drivers' licence.
• Intrastate travel may be required.
