We are seeking a TO4 Senior Technical Officer for a permanent full-time opportunity.
You will work collaboratively within a dynamic team of technical officers to install, maintain, service and repair electronic surveillance equipment, RF and IP networks and also participate in the design and development of new capabilities that support serious and major crime investigations using latest technology.

You will work within a dynamic team of technical officers to install, maintain, service & repair electronic surveillance equipment, RF & IP networks & also participate in the design & development of new capabilities that support serious & major crime investigations using latest technology.
Your Key Accountabilities:
The core capability requirements for this role are:
- Install, modify, maintain and service operational electronic surveillance and communications equipment.
- Undertake appraisal and implementation of equipment, including identification of capabilities and cost effectiveness and other equipment maintenance functions.
- Participate in a dynamic environment contributing to the design and development of current and emerging technology projects ensuring successful outcomes within time and budgetary constraints.
- Provide expert technical advice and training, briefings, and quality written correspondence to a wide range of audiences.
- Work independently or with limited supervision and as an effective member of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Initiate, build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external staff and stakeholders in support of achieving successful investigative outcomes.
Role Requirements:
Mandatory
- A Diploma or higher in Electronic Engineering, Audio Visual Technology, ICT, or similar field as deemed equivalent. (Note: Applicants who can establish equivalence of qualifications or have relevant studies plus work experience that can be recognised for qualification purposes are encouraged to apply. More information on qualification requirements can be obtained from the nominated contact person).
- Ability in the use of ICT systems and contemporary electronic principles and practices as they relate to technical surveillance equipment and capabilities is highly desirable
**Note: Copies of all qualifications must be produced at the time of interview.**
Highly Desirable
- R&D experience with IoT, IP, Audio, Video, RF, WiFi, and/or Bluetooth technologies.
- Experienced with coding in Python, Java, SQL, HTML, C++ etc.
Special Conditions
The following special conditions are required for each member of the Technical Surveillance Unit:
- A capacity to undertake the functions of an RF worker in compliance with Service policy in matters pertaining to working at heights, RF exposure, training, and other associated activities.
- The recruitment process requires all applicants to complete and sign a “Health and Suitability Declaration” form stating that they are unaware of any medical condition or predisposing physical or mental characteristic that would preclude them from safely undertaking duties as a Technical Officer.
- Preferred applicant/s will be required to undertake a pre-placement medical examination, which includes eye testing and psychometric assessment. (Note: Please refer to the attached ‘Pre-Placement Health Assessment' section for further information).
- Ability to travel intra/interstate to perform duties and work in a mixture of indoor and outdoor environments as required.
- The position may entail exposure to material (written, visual and audio) of an explicit, graphic and/or sensitive nature.
- Ability to work in a declared low risk operational environment assisting technical surveillance installations.
- A current C class licence.
- Applicants are advised that this business unit may schedule some operational activities outside of business hours. The Queensland Public Service Officers & Other Employees Award – State 2015 and the Queensland Police Staff Members Certified Agreement 2023 provides compensation for out of hours work (e.g. “On-call” allowances, Overtime, Time Off-In-Lieu)
